The Eliminator Series

For the past three years, Junior riders have been battling it out for top honours in the Junior Eliminator Series whilst the bigger children have been made to spectate on the sideline! This year that all changes as the series has included u/23, Open and 40+ age divisions so that everyone can now join in the fun.

Eliminator is a short course heat racing format of mountain biking whereby riders race four at a time across a course roughly 800m in length. The riders are tested on their speed, power and technical bike handling skills – everything required for a cross country or marathon race but bundled into a less than two minute sprint. The top two riders advance to the next round and the bottom two riders are eliminated from the event, this takes place all the way till a final.

The Eliminator Series will be spread across five provinces this year with the regulars Western Cape, KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng once again hosting races with the addition of the Free State and Eastern Cape being visited for the first time.

In the past the Series received fantastic support from its sponsors who drowned the entrants in awesome prizes and this year is no different. We have great support from our sponsors: Skullcandy, OGIO, Fox, RacePace, Yesman Branding and Red Bull who have provided great prizes for each province which will be put into raffle draws at each event so that everybody who enters stands a chance to win! There is also prize money for the podium finishers in all age divisions.

Apart from the individual competition, there will once again be the fight for which school team will accumulate the most points to finish on top to walk victorious with the Overall School Trophy in each province. With the added age divisions we have also added in a Varsity Trophy in each province to see who is the fastest on two wheels.

The series will be kicking off in the Western Cape:

Sunday 14 May – Zevenwacht Wine Estate

Sunday 28 May – Contermanskloof MTB Trails

We have two very different tracks setup from wide open with lots of overtaking opportunities and tight corners at Zevenwacht Wine Estate to a tight and technical course at Contermanskloof MTB Trails. They are both going to be fun and fast but don’t underestimate the length – it is going to burn!

It is only R150 to enter which covers both events. Entries close on Friday 12 May at 12pm.

Entries can be done online:
