TWO MTB day stage race, and other one day events near Vryheid, KZN
Vryheid will once again proudly host the one day Meatmasters Mountain Challenge on Saturday 15th of August 2015. The beautiful and abundant pristine forest areas and dams, will provide the perfect setting for athletes participating in the one-day 5,10, and 21km trail running, walking and MTB events. The one-day event on the Saturday 15th will be enjoyed by family, friends and spectators at the tranquil and scenic Bloemveld dam where there will be food stalls provided by the Boating club and entertainment for the kids.
This year however, Bambatha Events are planning something new!! On 15 and 16 August 2015, they will be hosting the inaugural 2 day MTB stage event, the Meatmasters Mountain Challenge. 90km and 70km of mountain bike riding on two consecutive days. This event, true to its name, promises to be all it can be to challenge the most dedicated hard core mountain bikers, but also for the riders that love exploring all the beautiful scenery that Vryheid has to offer. On both days the routes will incorporate a good deal of flowing single tracks, jeep track, bush trails and district roads. The first day riding North away from Vryheid and back over Zungwini mountain and the second day exploring the Vryheid Skurweberg kranse within pine plantation singletracks. An entry for 2 people will cost R3 800 and includes two nights tented accommodation at Bloemveld dam, six meals and a good quality jacket for each cyclist with a goody bag. A whole race village will be set up at Bloemveld dam to cater to the needs of the cyclists.
Vryheids Meatmasters Mountain Challenge promises to meet all the requirements of a true stage event! Participants will get to see places that very few people have access to and will get to experience the best that Vryheid has to offer in terms of sunshine, open skies and BEAUTIFUL scenery. The route meanders through battlefield from the Anglo-Zulu Warof 1879 , and Anglo-Boer War of 1899, including Kambula, Hlobane, Holkrans and Lancaster Hill . Plantations, mountains, exciting and terrifying downhills, lush vegetation, flowing singletrack through pine plantations, you name it, Vryheid “Meatmaster Mountain Challenge” HAS IT ALL!!
