Event: Cape Town Cycle Tour MTB Challenge
Date: Saturday, 27 February – Sunday, 28 February 2016
Distance: Approximately 14km, 20km and 30km, 40km, 55km
Venue: Le Bonheur Wine Estate, Greater Simonsberg Conservancy, Stellenbosch
The two-day Cape Town Cycle Tour MTB Challenge will return to Stellenbosch’s Le Bonheur Wine Estate on the last weekend of February 2016. The event kick starts the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour Lifecycle Week.
The five specially-designed routes – 14km, 20km, 30km, 40km and 55km – will take riders through some of the most scenic wine farms in the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy. Now in its 15th year, the MTB Challenge offers keen mountain bikers of all fitness levels the perfect setting to put their skills to the test.
Dirtopia’s trail-building expert, Meurant Botha, has designed each route to cater for various needs and interests. Riders can enjoy a fun day out on Saturday, 27 February as they tackle the 14km, 20km and 30km trails. These three routes are shorter and perfect for those still honing their MTB skills, or those looking for an enjoyable ride with family and friends. Rest assured that the shorter routes are by no means easier, with just the right level of challenge needed to build up a sweat and get those legs working!
Sunday, 28 February will welcome more experienced riders wanting to put their skills to the test in one of the longer and tougher routes (40km or 55km). These two trails are not for the feint-hearted and promise a long and dirty day out in the saddle.
