2 November 2015 – The International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced the competition dates for the 2016 UCI XCO Junior World Series.
Juniors are able to earn UCI points as part of their own World Series, which runs separately from the existing UCI MTB World Cup Series. This year, 25 races will count towards the series across five continents, with three of those races taking place in South Africa.
Racing starts early in the season with the first event (UCI Cat 1) at Mankele MTB Park, Mpumalanga, on 30 January 2016. The next event (UCI HC) is part of the Pietermaritzburg MTB Festival in KwaZulu-Natal on 30 April 2016, with the third event (UCI Cat 1) taking part in Port Elizabeth as part of the SA XCO Cup Series on 14 May 2016.
