Cape Country MTB Tour Entries Open

The Cape Country MTB Tour offers the best week long MTB experience to the average, adventurous and fit rider. The route is not too tough, nor too technical, although three stages are 100 km each (all with a total vertical ascent under 1 600m), whilst the rest of the stages are between 70 and 80 km. The route takes you on a journey from the Houw Hoek Inn in the Elgin Valley to the Knysna Lakes, along mountains and numerous rivers. It’s the beauty season in the Overberg and Southern Cape, when the canola and fynbos are flowering and the wheat fields are covering the hills and valleys in lush green. Not only do you cycle via to the oldest towns in the country, but it’s an adventure to discover places such as; the single tracks of Voorstekraal and Berea, the historic ox wagon pass and steel bridge in Klipfontein, Kambati Lodge’s ferry crossing, Olivedale’s sugar bridge, Kragga’s railway trail, Rietfontein’s white cliff and the Gourits river crossing, Hartenbos coastal trail, George’s Jonkersberg trails and Knysna’s historic passes. Approximately 5% of the route is on tar, the rest gravel roads, jeep tracks and even short stretches of single tracks.

If you’d like to read the rider feedback from the inaugural event, held in 2013, click here. It’s an untimed event designed to ensure you enjoy the riding and the scenery rather than race from race village to race village without raising your eyes from the road ahead.

There are two entry packages on offer the Backpacker/School hostel package for R6 000 per rider and the Luxuary/Hotel package for R9 00 per rider. Entries are limited to 60 and 30 individuals for each package respectively so you’ll have to book soon if to avoid missing out. Find out more at
