Charity Support a Key Focus for Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club

Known to many as the vehicle transport experts at the FNB Wines2Whales (W2W) Mountain Bike (MTB) Events, the Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club put the funds generated through their involvement with these three premier MTB stage races to good use by supporting a number of admirable projects including The Khomani San Project, Brak en Jan Creche, Youth Services and The HOPE Organization (Cape Town) to name just a few.

According to Clive Reed, Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club President, by transferring vehicles for mountain bikers at the FNB W2W MTB Adventure, Ride and Race the club raises funds to support a variety of projects.  “Each event sees approximately 50 members and friends of the Club transfer vehicles from (a) the Lourensford Wine Estate to Oak Valley Wine Estate, (b) from Oak Valley Wine Estate to Onrus and (c) from the Lourensford Wine Estate to Onrus.  This ensures that mountain bikers have access to their vehicles after each stage of the event”.

“We have been involved with the FNB W2W MTB Events for the past four years,” continues Reed.  “The events also allow Rotarians, family and friends to socialize while helping the FNB W2W MTB competitors.  We look forward to working as a team, having some fellowship and being thanked by competitors for a job well done”.

“HOPE Cape Town is a non-profit organization that for the past 13 years has been delivering care and support to children living with HIV,” says Kerstin Behlau, Administrator/Donor Liaison Europe.  “The long term goal of HOPE Cape Town is to directly address the HIV and AIDS pandemic by providing access to education, treatment and on-going flexible support.  Thanks to the Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club’s support we are able to assist and bring hope and sometimes light at the end of a dark episode of life to the children and their families”.
