Darling Brew Extreme

On Saturday the 31st of May a mountain biking festival will descent on the sleepy Swartland town of Darling. Better known as the home of Tannie Evita Bezuidenhout, Darling also boasts a growing MTB scene, which as all real mountain bikers know goes hand in hand with good craft beer…

The Darling Brew Extreme offers three distances with an 18km for the riders new to the sport. The route features two short single track sections, not to challenge one’s riding ability but to captivate new riders with the thrill of trail riding. The 35km option takes in the rolling Swartland hills and with 590m of climbing it shouldn’t be too stern a test for the less fit rider. The main race is the 52km ‘Bone Crusher’, it features some short sharp climbs and should prove a good test of skill and endurance especially if you’re one of the riders racing to enjoy an ice cold Darling Brew at the finish.

The Gabriëls Pharo Sport Fields in on the outskirts of Darling host the start and finish of all the races, as well as the finish line festivities – which promise to be excellent. How could they not be with Darling Brew beers on tap, gastronomical delights from local food stalls and some post-race entertainment too.
