As part of the 2015 events the Hollard Jozi Urban Run Adventure and Hollard Jozi Urban MTB adventure implemented a donation option within the online entry portal, so entrants can nominate a selected charity for a once-off or regular donation. This, along with Hollard matching the amount, has raised over R88 000 for the four incredible charities the events support.
Nikki Belford, Head of Sponsorship for Hollard comments: “As the headline sponsors of the Hollard JUMA and JURA we decided to match the donations that we raised at last years event and we’re committed to supporting these worthy charities moving forward.”
Mark Castel, Event Organiser, expands: “We’d like to thank every entrant that decided to donate last year. We’re extremely excited about the amount raised, and especially the fact that Hollard decided to match the amount. We’re looking forward to seeing what we can raise through entries in 2016 and we hope to double what we raised last year!”
The Hollard Jozi Urban Run Adventure and Hollard Jozi Urban MTB adventure are proud to support and be associated with the following incredible charities; the Wits Paediatric Fund, The Character Company, Rare Diseases South Africa and Campaigning for Cancer.
The four Charities share their thoughts on the donation and how all the funds raised will go towards making a difference:
Paul Adams, from the Wits Paediatric Fund, shares: “This is fantastic, it’s often difficult to get donations and we feel the response from this initiative was amazing. I rode the JUMA myself and loved it. It’s great that the entrants can enjoy these events and do some good while they’re at it. This donation will go towards various projects, specifically improving the radiation protection for the staff and the kids at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital.” For more info, follow them on Twitter @WitsPaediatric or like them on Facebook WITS Paediatric Fund
Toni Randall, from Rare Diseases South Africa, shares: “Besides the amazing donation, this event has provided us with much-needed exposure for these little know diseases. These events are critical for our cause; because rare diseases are so “rare” our biggest challenge is awareness. The donation and exposure allows us to continue supporting those who’ve been diagnosed and has helped us reach out and encourage people with symptoms to get to the Doctor and get more information.” For more info, follow them on Twitter @rarediseasesSA or like them on Facebook – Rare Diseases South Africa
Johann Combrink, from The Character Company, shares: “We really appreciate the donations, we can do so much for the young boys and single moms that we work with. The money is just so enabling and it’s lovely to partner with organisations like this. This donation will allow us to grow the number of groups we take care of, these donations will also allow us to sponsor at least two kids activities, camps and outings for a whole year.” For more info, follow them on Twitter @TheCharacterCo or like them on Facebook The Character Company
Tony Davis, Director at Campaigning for Cancer, shares: “Thank you from everyone at Campaigning for Cancer for this donation! It’s very well timed, this money will go towards supporting our new programme where our goal is to emotionally support and enable take those who have been newly diagnosed. We’re there to support them through the cancer journey and connect them with local support groups where they can get support not just online, but real world, physical support.” For more info follow them on Facebook at Campaigning for Cancer
