Follow the RECM Knysna 200 Action

The RECM Knysna 200 takes place this weekend in the slice of mountain biking heaven which is Knysna. The three day stage race is geared specifically towards riders looking to spend three fantastic days on their bikes, but there’s a competitive racing aspect too and both sides of the RECM Knysna 200 will be showcased live this weekend.

If you can’t join in the racing and fun in Knysna then you can follow the action live on Twitter by following @recmknysna200. The racing up front promises to be frenetic as Nico Pfitzenmaier has targeted defending the title which he won in 2015. While in the ladies race the ever effervescent Candice Neethling will challenge each other for victory in the absence of 2015 champ Robyn de Groot. The daily starts and prize giving ceremonies will be broadcast live on Periscope too – click on the relevant link to download the application so long from the Google Play or AppStore in anticipation of the RECM Knysna 200.

The 2016 race gets underway with a 71km first stage from the Knysna Elephant Park at 09:00 on Friday the 17th of June. Each of the three stages feature a different start venue around Knysna, so as to better showcase the scintillating singletracks of the area without having to clock up too many kilometres in doing so. Stages 2 and 3 are 70km and 57km long, and start at Quinta da Montanha and the Harkerville Forest Station respectively. Each of the three stages finishes on Thesen Island and the RECM Knysna 200 riders will be able to unwind in the scenic lagoon-side race village centred on Tapas Bistro and Sirocco Restaurant.

For riders driving to Knysna for the event registration opens at 16:00 on Thursday the 16th of June at Tapas Bistro, while dinner will be served at Sirocco from 18:00. The race briefing will take place during dinner, at 18:30, at Sirocco. For more information on the RECM Knysna 200 please visit www.recmknysna200.co.za.
