HOLLARD JUMA 2015: LEAVING BEHIND A SEXY SPRUIT LEGACY!

Add awesome permanent features and infrastructure to the Spruit? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

We are excited to announce that as part of the R1,5 Million course build the Hollard Jozi Urban Mountain Bike Adventure will be leaving behind a legacy that can be enjoyed by Spruit users for years to come – wider two-way paths and two much needed permanent underground road crossings.

Hollard Joburg Urban MTB Adventure is brought to you by BAM Event Specialists in partnership with Johannesburg City Parks and Joburg Zoo.

Over the next few weeks, the Spruit will be enjoying some facelifts in preparation for the event on the 6th September 2015. First through work on the current paths, which will be widened as part of an ongoing plan to create bi-directional routes on the Spruit.

The Spruit Fairy, Hollard JUMA/JURA Master Course Builder comments: “The newly widened paths will not only combat congestion on the day but will change the flow of the Spruit year round. We’ve all experienced awkward encounters during busy days on the Spruit. With wider, two-way traffic paths all the users will be able to pass each other safely and comfortably while enjoying the beauty of the Spruit.”

Another spectacular new addition to the Spruit comes in the form of two permanent bridges under Tana Road in Emmarentia and under William Nicol worth over R120 000. These two bridges will allow riders to cross under these two high traffic roads quickly, safely and in style!

Russell Willis, Event Organiser, expands: “The intersections under which we’ve created the bridges are particularly dangerous and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to leave behind a meaningful legacy on the Spruit. A temporary structure would have cost R20 000 versus the R60 000 per permanent bridge we’re investing. It’s about adding value for the everyday riders, runners and dog walkers. Giving them a Spruit route that can be enjoyed safely all year round. ”
