Ariane Kleinhans proved that she is one of South Africa’s top women cyclists after winning her second successive BestMed Tour de Boland title last week.
The 5 day stage race started in Paarl, covered 467km with 4,428m ascent in total and visited the towns of Worcester, Op-die-Berg, Ceres, Tulbagh and Riebeek-Kasteel.
Ariane won 2 of the 5 stages, placed second on all the remaining 3 stages, and won the tour by almost 5 minutes ahead of second placed Lise Oliver (Time Freight E).
“With a week until the Absa Cape Epic, I’m really happy with my form at the moment. It’s always good to be able to defend a race title that you have won the year before, and it’s really good morale for the Epic. It was great to race with the ladies at the Tour de Boland, and I’m really impressed with the speed, intensity and professionalism in the ladies road bunch.” smiled Kleinhans
The Absa Cape Epic starts this Sunday with the opening 20km Prologue at UCT in Cape Town. Ariane Kleinhans and Annika Langvad will be defending their 2014 Absa Cape Epic Women’s title in the 8 day stage race that covers 739km and 16,000m of ascent.
