We challenge you to hit the gravel, dust and mud, and take your place among the 16 intrepid riders that will conquer the Damaraland Desert in Namibia from 25 July to 01 August, 2015. Only 16 intrepid riders can take up the exclusive 2015 Challenge 4 A Cause, from 25 July to 01 August 2015 in Damaraland, Namibia, home of the rare Black Desert Rhino. This year our fund-raising Challenge is more crucial than ever before as there has been no poaching of the Black Desert Rhino for the past 30 years, but in 2014 the known numbers of poached rhino reached 24 in less than a year.
Experience Challenge 4 A Cause – it’s the ultimate mountain biking event. An adventure like no other. Through one of Africa’s most dramatic and remote landscapes. A landscape that few will ever see and a landscape that the Desert-Adapted Black Rhino calls home.
Few cycling events in the world provide the unique camaraderie of this 6-day epic over 336 rugged kilometres. After a tough, 4 to 6-hour day in the desert, return to camp and refresh under a hot shower before relaxing around a roaring fire. The memories that you will forge under the African night sky will last a lifetime. Each day starts with the promise of riding alongside the elusive Desert-Adapted Black Rhino in its harsh but breath-taking natural habitat.
Join the Ride through the rugged desert landscape for the benefit of two active rural foundations –
Wildlife ACT Fund www.wildlifeact.com which protects endangered species such as the Black Rhino in its harsh but breath-taking natural habitat, and Good Work Foundation www.goodworkfoundation.org which uplifts rural communities through digital learning and conservation awareness.
The participation fee of R50 000 per rider includes return airfares from Johannesburg or Cape Town to Windhoek, Namibia, plus transfers, accommodation, meals and refreshments. Of this, R25 000 goes towards the covering the cost of each participant and the balance of R25 000 benefits the two charities.
Be one of the 16 adventurers-come-cyclists-come-philanthropists to ride the Challenge!
