From flowing single-track to challenging trail adventures, the Specialized Rumor is designed for female trail riders looking for versatility and premium performance in a 29inch or 650b wheel platform.
Specialized Bicycle Components is excited to unveil the Rumor 650b, providing women trail riders with the option between the two wheel sizes. Built with Women’s Trail Geometry, the Rumor is created from the ground up to be one of the best no-compromise trail bikes optimized for the female rider. With the addition of the Rumor 650b, Specialized’s goal is to provide riders with the opportunity to enjoy the Rumor in the wheel size that best matches their riding style and preference.
“Women are getting after it and riding a variety of trails – our rider feedback reflected a desire to have the Rumor available in both 29 and 650b due to the vast array of trails women are riding, so we’re excited to add this bike to our trail family,” said Amy Nelson, Women’s Mountain Product Manager.
What are the ride differences between the two wheel sizes? The Rumor 650b offers 130mm of travel and is designed to handle tight and twisty turns with grace, provide quick handling over steep and technical terrain, while remaining agile and responsive. The Rumor 29 offers 120mm of travel and provides the rider with increased rolling distance with each pedal stroke, rolling easily over rocks and roots while remaining stable and efficient.
Because so much attention was paid to dialing in the perfect geometries, rider-height shouldn’t be a determining factor in the riders’ wheel-size choice. For riders unsure of what wheel size is best for them, the team suggests evaluating your style of riding and looking at the terrain being ridden. The Rumor 29 shines on open and rocky trails, while the Rumor 650b excels on tighter, twisty singletrack. However, it’s up to each individual and now women have the opportunity to choose what is best for them.
