Stoltz to host XTERRA training day

Multisport enthusiasts will be granted the unique opportunity to obtain valuable training and nutrition tips from one of the worlds most decorated triathletes, Conrad “The Caveman” Stoltz on Saturday, 18 February 2017 when he hosts an official XTERRA Training Day at the picturesque Grabouw Country Club in the build-up to the Fedhealth XTERRA South African Championship.

According to the four-time XTERRA World Champion and three-time ITU Cross Triathlon World Champion, group training for XTERRA is a great idea.  “It is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the famed XTERRA Grabouw course, get specific XTERRA training done, meet fellow competitors and pick-up on some tips,” says Stoltz.  “The training day will have a relaxed feel to it.  Athletes can bring friends and family.  It’s important to bring cycling gear, running gear, some snacks and energy fuel, a change of clean clothes and a swimming costume for the dip after training.  Look forward to an ice cold BOS Sport at the finish, nothing beats it.”

Tips from ‘The Caveman’:

  1. Fancy, expensive equipment is not needed to enjoy XTERRA. The equipment does, however, need to be in good working condition.
  2. Know your equipment. If you’ve been training you would be familiar with it all, but you’ll be shocked at the number of people who borrow a friend’s bike the night before the race and then realise something doesn’t work.
  3. Know before you go: Goggles that work.  How to remove your wetsuit/swim skin quickly. Tubeless wheels to avoid flats.  The right tyre pressure so you don’t get flats and/or bounce around. Working gears and brakes so you can go and stop. Water bottles that don’t fly out the bike cage.  Comfortable trail running shoes.
