The Trans Talk is an Roadshow initiative started by Ecobound with the aim to increase awareness and to transfer information not only to the “rookie” riders of the Trans Baviaans but experienced riders and anybody interested in the event.
The evening was hosted by Sportmans Warehouse Fourways Crossing who went out of their way to accommodate the Trans Talk evening. The evening covered everything from route information to the famous “Jaffles” at Checkpoint 7. The eyebrows raised as the topic went over to the river crossings that can go up to 69 crossings if it is a wet year! A photo of a Buffalo and riders captured in the same image from last year’s race caused quite a murmured grunt from the crowd.
The guys from Extreme Lights got technical with their presentation on lights and PowerBar explained the importance of nutrition and hydration during an event like the Trans Baviaans. Morne Swanepoel from last year’s Blind Team gave an inspirational story about their experience of the Trans Baviaans.
After the presentation there was time to social, enjoy some snacks provided by Sportmans Warehouse and ask more questions to the Ecobound Team on a one on one basis.
“We feel the first Trans Talk was a successful and informative evening for all” said Wikus v.d. Walt from Ecobound.
There is more Trans Talk’s planned later this year in other regions of the country so keep an eye out for more details in social media or the Ecobound newsletters.
