Ultimate X

On the 1st of February Cape Town will come alive to an extreme sports spectacle known as Ultimate X. Ultimate X traditionally features some of the world’s best free style motocross, BMX and wakeboarding athletes and this year is no different, but with the addition of a Pump Track Eliminator.

Watch the likes of Richard Murray (Triathlete/Olympian), Andrew Neethling (Downhill, world cup competitor) and Manie Lubbe (Cross Country, Youth SA Champ), Oliver Munnik (MTB Personality) and Renay Groustra (SA’s top performing XCO rider) as they race for the R25 000 prize purse. Radtrax has supplied a top of the line pump track that will see competitors railing berms and clearing doubles in order to walk away with top honours and the lion’s share of the prize purse. The racing format will see four riders per heat, with each rider getting two runs to set their fastest time with the top two times in each heat advancing to the next round. Riders will be allowed with a rolling start and then three laps of the course to set their times.

With riders from across the diverse cycling spectrum taking part it’ll be interesting to see who has the skills to take home gold. Will Renay’s XCO speed help? Will Andrew’s bike skills put him above the competition? Or will Richard out last the competition? We’ll see on Saturday the 1st.

The day promises to be action packed all round with an after party featuring Jed Nery (Beat Box MC) and local rockers Van Coke Kartel.

Tickets are available from Computicket for R180 and for more information go to the Pump Track Eliminator’s race organiser, One Movement’s website, or on the Ultimate X South Africa website.
