uMlungus invade Isandlwana at the Bike & Battle

After a successful 3 days of incredible trail riding, history & entertainment in the Anglo Zulu battlefields, Zulu raconteur Dalton Ngobese was overheard saying to one of our guests
“You uMlungu’s must invade Isandlwana more often!”

As the dust settles after the first Bike & Battle, let’s take a look back on the past couple of days…
Firstly we’d like to acknowledge a few people!

A big thank you to ONE for coming onboard as headline sponsor. Without their support we wouldn’t have had such an amazing event, it was a great pleasure working with their team.

Thanks to Land Rover Durban, our vehicle partner for providing us with some beautiful Discoveries to ferry crew and guests around the battle sites. Our event coordinator was somewhat disappointed to have to return hers!

Thanks also to the raucous bunch of reprobates that call themselves mountain bikers, aka our fantastic guests! I think they may have single handedly revived the Isandlwana economy and should consider taking shares in SA Breweries. We hope you had a superb experience with us and look forward to many more!

And last but certainly not least, our crew of volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure the Bike & Battle’s success. We truly could not have done it without you. A heartfelt thank you to you all!

The vision for the Bike & Battle was to create a high end mtb adventure. There were many elements involved to ensure a top notch experience for all our guests. From the raw natural trail riding, the history and raconteur talks each day, to the comfortable accommodation and food. It was a wonderful thing to see our vision come to life! And to see how much the guests loved the whole experience, is reward enough for all the hard work that went on behind the scenes.

This is just the beginning… we have lots of exciting stuff planned for 2016, so watch this space! And if you can, tune in to SuperSport 2 this evening at 6h20 to catch Gerald de Kock give his first hand account of the inaugural Bike & Battle.
